Crane Siding

The first company to manufacture vinyl siding, Crane Siding has been producing quality siding for more than sixty years. Crane's siding products are a separate business entity under the Crane Group Companies, which is a holding company consisting of building product operating units. Crane was founded in 1947 by Robert Crane Sr.; the Columbus, Ohio-based Crane Group is privately held and currently employs more than 1,300 people.

Products manufactured and distributed by the Crane Group include exterior cladding products, wood composite decking and railing, vinyl fencing, wood doors and door frames, OEM PVC profiles, roofing materials, security gate systems, vinyl sheet piling, and steel I-beams. Crane Siding introduced solid core siding in 1998; the event has been recognized as a breakthrough in the siding industry.

Crane's Performance Siding products are marketed under the Exterior Portfolio and Performance Vinyl Siding brands. Within Crane's Exterior Portfolio brand there are four products:

  • CraneBoard, siding for a wide variety of architectural styles that incorporates clean lines and cladding designs known for their architectural integrity;

  • Portsmouth Shake, a line of vinyl exterior products with the look of cedar shake, hand-split shake, or half rounds; and
  • Architectural Essentials, Crane Siding's line of decorative and trim finishing components.
